Occupations are changing from `means to survive` to `ways and goals for self-realization` for today`s workers. Providing motivation and developing customer-oriented approach for hotel employees have become important factors for hotels to raise service standards and to realize customers` satisfaction and secure higher competitiveness. By understanding effects of organizational support for hotel employees on their occupational identity, this study suggests how certain characteristics of organizational support have effects on those of occupational identity. Surveys were done for 331 samples who were employees of deluxe hotels in Seoul, Korea. Results show that organizational support of educational validity, career development and individual recognition affect to self-regulation. Salaries, working environment, and individual recognition appeared to influence committed consciousness, and individual recognition was found to affect to human relationship and role. The results of this study imply that organizational supports in hotels are significantly related with occupational identities. Particularly, in the first class hotels, the contributions of organizational supports except promotion to occupational identity appeared to be high, and the contributions of occupational identities except self-regulation to organizational supports were high, whereas in the second class hotels, among organizational supports, only organizational education systems and individual recognition were high in their influences to occupational identities. The results of this study would provide a useful implication for hotel managers to consider effective management of organization support and human resources.
