영국 글래스고에서의 도시재생과 창조산업 = The Urban Regeneration and Creative Industry of Glasgow in the United Kingdom

국문 초록 (Abstract)

도시재생은 대도시 지역의 외연적 확산과 쇠퇴 현상을 억제하고, 지역의 재활성화를 통해 궁극적으로 경제성장과 환경보전이 공존하는 지속가능한 개발을 목표로 하고 있다. 하지만 도시재생에 관한 상당수 기존 연구성과들은 도시재생 정책과 창조도시 전략을 별개로 분리해서 분석하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 하나의 국가 또는 도시의 차원으로 분석단위를 한정하면서, 거시적인 정치적, 경제적 흐름과도 분리해서 분석하는 경향이 있다.
1980년대 이후 영국에서 본격적으로 추진된 도시재생은 신 국제노동분업 그리고 신자유주의와 그 궤를 같이하며, 1990년대 중반부터 시작된 창조도시, 창조산업전략과도 긴밀하게 연관되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 세계화의 흐름 속에서 거시적 환경과도 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있다. 특정 지역의 개발을 좀 더 심층적으로 이해하기 위해, 본 연구는 이와 같은 다양한 요소들을 총체적이고 복합적으로 고려하면서 영국 글래스고의 도시재생과 창조산업의 형성과 변화에 대하여 분석하고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The urban regeneration aims to prevent the external expansion and decay of urban areas, and ultimately to pursue sustainable development, in which economic growth and environment conservation coexist through the revitalization of the areas. However, a number of existing studies tended to analyze the urban regeneration policy separately from the creative city strategy, as well as to separate it from macro political and economic flows, restricting its analysis to a country or city level.
Implemented in full scale in the UK since 1980s, urban regeneration has been pursued in line with globalization, new international division of labor and neo-liberalism. The discussion on creative city, started from mid-1990s, is closely associated with not only urban regeneration policy but also creative industry. Both urban regeneration and creative city are closely interrelated each other, and deeply involved in the macro-environment of the globalized environment. In order to provide more in-depth understanding on a specific region, this paper intends to analyze the urban regeneration and creative industry of Glasgow, UK, comprehensively considering the various factors above.
