대학 진로관련 교과목의 효과성 검증 연구 분석 = A Review of Research on the Effectiveness of College Career Courses

The purpose of this study was to review a total of sixty-seven studies on the effectiveness of college career courses in terms of research content and method. Sixty-five studies were published in the U.S., and five were in Korea. Fifty-two studies examined output of the courses (immediate change of variables after courses), and that ten and nine studies explored outcome of the courses (long-term effect of the courses) and course satisfaction respectively. Among the output studies, change of career decision making and knowledge of self were most frequently measured. Meanwhile, change of occupational knowledge and career related behaviors were not assessed. Most study results indicated that the college career courses were effective to increase college students' career developmental level and improve college adjustment although all studies did not generate the positive results. Regarding research method, the most studies used a quasi-experimental design, collected relatively big samples, and assessed variables with various scales. These results suggest that future studies on the effectiveness of college career courses inspect more various variables such as career exploration behaviors and employment rate, and examine mediating variables to show which components of the courses make students change in their career development. Further results and implications are discussed in the current study.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 미국과 한국에서 발표된 총 67편의 대학 진로관련 교과목의 효과성을 검증한 연구들을 분석하고 정리하여 진로교과목 운영자 및 진로교과목의 효과성을 검증하고자 하는 연구자들에게 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다. 검색된 연구들은 연구내용과 연구방법 측면에서 분석되었다. 분석결과 진로교과목의 단기적 효과성을 검증한 연구가 가장 많았으며, 단기적 효과성을 검증한 연구 중에서는 진로의사결정의 변화와 자신의 이해에 대한 변화를 측정한 연구가 가장 많았다. 이밖에 장기적 효과성을 검증한 연구와 진로교과목 내용 및 만족도를 조사한 연구는 각각 비슷한 숫자로 발표되었다. 이들 연구 결과들을 살펴보면 모든 연구결과들이 대학 진로교과목의 효과성을 보여준 것은 아니었지만 대부분 연구에서 대학 진로교과목이 학생들의 진로발달과 성공적인 학교생활에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구방법과 관련해서는 대부분의 연구가 준실험연구방법을 사용하였으며, 비교적 큰 표집수를 가지고 다양한 측정도구를 활용하여 연구를 시행하였음을 보여주었다. 이러한 연구결과들은 진로교과목 운영자들이나 진로교과목 효과성을 검증하고자 하는 연구자들에게 유의미한 시사점을 제공한다. 보다 자세한 분석결과와 결과에 대한 논의가 본 연구에서 제시되었다.
