This study examines the possibility of brain drain and growing spatial inequality owing to the selective inter-regional migration into the Seoul Metropolitan Areas. This analysis shows the number of people have moved between origin and destination in a given period(1996, 2000) by the administrative unit of Si·Gun·Gu. Both the process of population decrease in Seoul and its expending the power of influence occur simultaneously. An agedisaggregate decomposition is able to highlight destination choice among various age groups. Age-disaggregated character in migration reveals considerable complexity about the aggregate trends. Particular types of people, aged between 20~29 have greater propensity to migrate into Seoul from other provincial areas. The outflow of well-educated young people(brain drain) may induce the growing spatial inequality.
