The purpose of this study is two-fold: (1) to review recent educational researches on spirituality in terms of research area, perspective, subject, methodology and publication type; and (2) to suggest future studies. For this study, 237 researches in Korea were reviewed and analyzed by using descriptive statistics. As results of this study, the recent researches on spirituality can be summarized into six major findings: (1) many of the reviewed studies appeared to be studies on ‘teaching theory’ and ‘educational philosophy’; (2) many studies were drawn from religious perspectives; (3) research subjects were mostly adults; (4) major focus of the reviewed studies was to theorize/conceptualize spirituality; (5) studies on spirituality mostly appeared in master degree thesis rather than doctoral dissertation; and (6) relatively few studies were published in religion-neutral journals. Therefore, it is argued that, future research on spirituality needs to pay more attention for diversifying and expanding research themes, perspectives, subjects and methodologies.
