Justice evaluations play a key role in stability and sustaining of a group by promoting positive emotion, cooperation, and willingness to obey the law among group members. Theories of justice has been focused by organizational research. Justice, however, has not drawn much attention from sociologists, though justice evaluation is very important in maintaining society. In this article, We review the history of justice theories from the 60’s, especially focusing on how the antecedents of the justice evaluations has been extended in the field of justice theory. We argue that justice theories developed by investigating various subjective factors which affect justice evaluations among people. Starting from early equity theory, this article points out the main feature and limitations of the theory and reviews following research which investigates the factors that influences justice evaluations. In addition, We also examine diversity of the concept of justice, especially development of procedural justice, and the different norms of distribution: equity, equality and need. Recent topics and future research of justice theory are discussed.
