국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 튜터링에 참여했던 학생선수의 사회적 관계와 학업성취를 조사하는 것이다. 구체적으로 학생선수들의 친한 친구관계 연결망과 학업활동과 관련된 정보교환 관계 연결망을 조사하고, 연결망 속에서 나타난 튜터와의 관계와 학생선수들의 학업성취가 서로 관계가 있는지를 분석하였다. A대학교 체육학과 1, 2학년 학생 95명 (남=78, 여=17)이 참여하였다. Name
generator 질문을 통하여 학업관련 정보교환관계와 교우관계 연결망 자료와 연구참여자들의 성적을 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 구성원들의 연결망 구조 특징과 관계적 속성을 알아보기 위하여 중앙성, Quadratic Assignment Procedure, 구조화분석 등을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 1, 2학년 전체적인 네트워크에서는 Burt(1992)가 제시한 유유상종 친구관계가 나타났다. 둘째, 정보교환관계와 친구관계는 학생선수들 끼리, 일반학생들끼리 친한 친구로 상호작용하는 효과가, 정보교환관계는 학생선수들끼리, 같은 성별끼리 학업관련 정보를 교환하는 경향이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 튜터링이 학생
선수들의 학업능력 향상에 도움이 되었지만 튜터들과 가까운 거리에 위치한 또는 친밀한 관계가 있는 모든 학생선수들의 성적이 향상되지는 않았다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between student athletes academic achievement and their social networks. Research questions were:
(1) What are the network structure of physical education (PE) major students where student athlets are embedded., (2) What structural parameters are contributing to the PE majors network structure, and (3) Is there an association between student athletes academic achievement and geodesic distance from the tutors shown in their
network? Total of 95 college student (M= 78, F=17) majoring PE participated in this study where approximately half of them are student athletes. Data were collected using Name generator questionnaire. Students grade point average (GPA) were also collected to analyze academic achievement. Data were analyzed using social network
analysis tools such as UCINET, p-net(ERGM), and Quadratic Assignment Procedure.
Network distance was calculated if association between geodesic distance and academic achievement exist. Results of this showed that (1) PE students showed three family under one roof where homophily was identified (2) homophily (e.g., student athletes, students with same sex) contributed to the total social network of
PE majors, and (3) student athletes showed improvement in their GPA when they are interacting with tutors. Their GPA change is not attributed to the geodesic distance from student athletes to tutors.
