In recent years, concerns of human rights goes on increasing while demanding for democratization in our society. Accordingly, the legal system of human rights has considerably been enacted, but the human rights consciousness fell short of the system. Human Rights Consciousness is the attitudes that is cognized the human rights of people and is respected the human rights of themselves and other people, and is defended the human rights positively. This Human Rights Consciousness is composed of three dimensions: Human Rights Judgement, Human Rights Sensitivity, and Human Rights Behavioral Intention. The Human Rights Judgement means knowledge related human rights and ability to evaluate by principle that human rights are correct. The Human Rights Sensitivity is emotion that empathies for other people`s situation in human rights abuse and that feels uncomfortable, pain, and anger. The Human Rights Behavioral Intention means willingness to improve and to solve the human rights abuse. According to the level of these three requisites for human rights consciousness, the human rights consciousness can be categorized into eight types. The types of human rights consciousness are guardian type, wait-and-see type, compassion type, lethargy type, principle type, insensibility type, and blindness type. These classification helps to analyze of the situation and to point out the problems of youth`s human rights consciousness. The study on the formation and typology of youth`s human rights consciousness can serve to seeking directions, contents, and methods of human rights education. That is, this study will be helpful to find practical solutions to be raising youth`s human rights consciousness. Eventually, it will be contributed to educate citizens who respect the human rights in democratic society.
