As Hyojong, 17th king of Joseon dynasty, died on May 4th, 1659, Sanreungdogam began to look for an appropriate mountain for a royal tomb. After looking for more than 30 places at first search, they concentrated on Suwon and Hongjedong. During a discussion on these two options, Gang Yoon, the Minister of Culture and Education, insisted on Suwon, while geomancers headed by Sundo Yoon and vassals including Siyeol Song and joongil Song insisted on Hongjedong. On Gang Yoon's contention for Suwon, Hyeonjong's will, which avoided Hongjedong because of long distance, was reflected. Though both Hongjedong and Suwon are lucky places, Sundo Yoon kept his argument on Hongjedong in terms of the theory of divination based on topography. On the other hand, vassals didn't want to concede their point about Suwon's incongruity. As Hyeonjong picked Suwon, vassals desperately opposed and suggested Gunwonreung for an alternative. During this, Sundo Yoon expressed his thought that Suwon is a better choice rather than Gunwonreung though he rarely participated in due to health issues. The extreme argument between Hyeonjong who maintained his opinion on Suwon and vassals who wanted Suwon for the last and suggested Hongjedong finally ended as Gunwonreung was selected which was led by Joongil Song's presentation about Suwon's secret record.
