사회과 교육목표에 나타난 교과의 성격 = 교육과정 변천사를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 사회과 교육목표에 나타난 교과의 성격을 검토하였다. 검토 자료는 교수요목기부터 7차 교육과정 시기까지의 교육과정 문서이다. 사회과의 세 가지 전통과 사회과 목표론의 체계화 범주인 지식 목표, 기능목표, 가치·태도 목표의 측면에서 분석하였다. 교육과정 시기별로 목표 진술의 양상은 차별적이다. 4차 교육과정 시기에 와서 지식, 기능 그리고 가치ㆍ태도 목표의 분화가 나타났다. 목표론의 체계화 관점에서 볼 때, 교육과정이 바뀜에 따라 점점 진화해 왔다는 평가를 내릴 수 있다. 교수요목기와 1차 교육과정 시기 그리고 6차 교육과정 시기의 경우는 진보주의 계열의 입장에서 사회과의 지향을 목표로 제시하고 있다. 나머지 시기의 경우, 여러 입장들이 혼재하는 양상을 나타내고 있다. 각 시기별로 교육과정 개발자들은 사회과의 지향에 대하여 가장 이상적인 방향을 제시할 것이며, 이것은 교육 목표의 진술을 통하여 가시화되었다고 볼 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is examine the nature of social studies in the elementary school curriculum objective. We analysed national curriculum documents from the period of ‘course of study’ to 7th curriculum. In the 4th curriculum, educational objectives is divided into knowledge, skill and attitude. In a view of the systematization of objective, we think that there is an advance of social studies curriculum. We find that curriculum developer in the period of ‘course of study’, the first curriculum and 6th curriculum presented educational objectives in the aspect of progressivism. In the period of the rest, the philosophy of educational objectives is the mixture of progressivism and essentialism. We conclude that the spirit of social studies come into view in the statement of social studies objectives.
