경제 불평등 구조 분석 = 계급, 지역 및 연령집단을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 외환위기 이후 전개된 계급(class), 지역(region) 및 연령 집단(age cohort) 차원에서, 세 가지 변수의 상호작용의 결과 부(net worth)와 소득의 증감에 어떠한 영향을 주는가를 분석함으로써 부와 소득 불평등 구조 형태를 분석하는 것이다. 차감순자산이 차감소득보다 더 큰 경제적 불평등 기제로 작동할 수 있으며, 차감순자산은 계급, 지역, 연령집단 중에서 계급의 위치에 더 큰 영향을 받는다. 그리고 이러한 계급은 연령대의 위치와 결합함으로써 차감순자산을 결정짓는 중요한 변수로 나타났다. 결국, 외환위기 이후 전개된 경제 불평등은 소득 보다는 부에 의해 큰 영향을 받았으며, 이러한 경제 불평등의 구조는 계급, 지역, 연령집단 차원에서 각 집단별로 차별성을 보이면서 경제적 가치의 응축과 불평등 확대가 진행되었음을 확인하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper intends to analyze the structure of Korean economic inequality, focusing on the class, region, and age cohort in the wealth and income inequality perspectives, particularly in regards to economic inequality after the recent financial crisis. According to the quantile regression analysis by means of a dummy variable, the research confirmed that the balanced net worth, which is calculated by deducting the previous year’s net worth from the base year’s net worth, can create a more serious economic inequality problem than the balanced net income, which is calculated by deducting the previous year’s income from the base year’s net income. In addition, the balanced net worth can be influenced mostly by the class level among other factors, such as class, region, and age cohort; this class associated with the age level can work as one of the major factors that determine the balanced net worth. In the end, since the financial crisis, the economic inequality has been heavily influenced by net worth rather than income. The development of wealth inequality further indicates differences among class, region, and age cohort levels, and confirms the process of condensation in economic value and the expansion of inequality.
