기독교 교육에 있어 교육목적에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

세속교육에 있어서는 교육의 목적의 원천을 ‘생존가치’에 두는 것이 일반적인 개념이다. 이렇게 본다면 목적은 자체적으로 파급되는 사회의 유용한 경험에서 추출해낸 것으로 고려된다. 목표의 진술은 사실상 사회정책과 사회활동의 계획이 된다. 다른 이들은 사회적 기관에 대한 역사적 분석으로부터 교육의 목적을 끌어내려고 시도해 왔으며, 또 다른 이들은 현 생활의 과학적인 분석으로부터 교육목적을 이끌어냈다. 어떤 이들은 여전히 인간의 원래적 본성에 대한 심리적인 연구를 통해서 목적을 세우려 하고 있다. 이런 모든 방법들이 오늘날 가치가 있겠지만, 그리스도인은 가치감과 미래적 보증을 주고, 교육목표를 추출해낼 수 있는 하나님의 계시에 근거한 기독교 세계관의 철학에 의존하여야 한다. 신학과 기독교 철학이 기독교적 목적과 목표의 주된 출처가 된다는 것은 필연적이다. 교육목적은 하나님 중심과 성경 중심의 교육철학 및 교육과정을 조직하기 위해 필요한 통일성과 통합을 제공하는 실제적인 안내자의 역할을 한다. 본 논문은 기독교교육의 일반적인 과제와 목표, 학자들이 보는 기독교교육의 목적, 여러 기관에서 정한 기독교교육의 목적, 그리고 기독교교육의 분야별 목적 등을 다루고자 한다. 그리스도인에게 있어서 교육의 진정한 목적은 구속적인 것이다. 교육의 목적은 그리스도와 같은 인격과 품행으로 인도하시는 그리스도로 말미암아 인간 안에 하나님의 형상을 회복하는 것이다. 그리스도인을 위한 교육의 목적은 사회적 유산을 보존하고 영속시키며 개개인으로 하여금 가능한 인간의 최상의 탁월성을 개발시킬 뿐만 아니라 학생의 자기활동을 통하여 인간수준에서 최대한의 가능한 인격의 통합을 위해 자발적으로 노력하도록 자극시키고 지도하며 그리스도안의 온전한 사람이 되도록 하는 궁극적인 목표를 지향하도록 지도하는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper discusses the Aims and Objectives for Christian Education, and focuses on the understanding of Scripture as God's self-revelation of reality. This paper is composed of major four parts : the general tasks and objectives of Christian education, the scholars' views of the aims and objectives of Christian education, the communities' views of the aims and objectives of Christian education, and the special objectives of various spheres in Christian education. Purposes and objectives provide guidelines for initiating and culminating the educative process. The popular conception in secular education posits the source of aims in what is called "survival values." Thus conceived, aims are considered abstractions from the salutary experiences of society in propagating itself. Thus, statements of objectives become virtually a social policy and a program of social action. Other educators have tried to derive the aims of education from an historical analysis of social institutions. Others have derived theirs from a scientific analysis of current life. Still others have predicated aims on the psychological study of original nature of man. All of these methods are able to derive present day values, perhaps. Both science and history are limited to fact-finding now. A sense of moral obligation is missing. Only an educational philosophy can supply the lack. The Christian, therefore, relies on the philosophy of the Christian world view based on the revelation of God to give him a sense of values and future security from which the aims of education can be abstracted. Here, of necessity, Christian theology and philosophy will be the primary sources of Christian aims and objectives. The nature of man is also a vital factor in this matter. The needs of the human heart and life also rank high in educational values. The purpose of education is to show God revealed. The immediate objective of education is qualify man to reveal God. The ultimate objective for education is the Kingdom of God to come. The purpose of education, therefore, for the Christian is not merely the preservation and perpetuation of social heritage, nor is it the development of individual to the highest possible human excellence, but its goal is so excite and direct the sellf-activities of the pupil that he will volitionally strive for the best possible integration of personality on the human level, but directed toward the restoration of the image of God and the ultimate objective of the "perfect man in Christ.
