대졸자 노동시장 성과 결정요인의 구조적 관계 : 비인지적 능력의 효과를 중심으로 = Structural Relationships Among Determinants of Labor Market Outcomes of College Graduates : Focusing on the Effects of Non-cognitive Abilities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국고용정보원의 청년패널조사(Youth Panel) 1차(2007), 2차년도(2008) 데이터를 사용하여 대졸 취업자의 노동시장 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인과 이들 요인 사이의 구조적 관계를 분석하고자 하였다. 특히 대졸자의 비인지적 능력 요인에 초점을 두고 가정배경, 친구성향, 취업사교육, 해외연수, 교육훈련, 수능성적 등의 요인들이 노동시장 성과에 미치는 영향력에 관해 구조방정식 모형 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 수능성적, 비인지적 능력 그리고 해외연수 경험이 노동시장 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 둘째, 가정의 사회경제적 지위는 직접적인 영향을 미치지는 않았으나, 고등학교 재학 시절 친구성향과 수능성적, 그리고 해외연수를 매개로 노동시장 성과에 간접효과를 발휘하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 그동안 간과되었던 비인지적 능력의 중요성을 시사하며 직업체험과 기술전수 위주의 대학당국 취업지원 정책이 비인지적 역량을 강화하는 방향으로 다양화될 필요성이 있음을 주장하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explores the relationships among determinants of labor market outcomes of college graduates, using Youth Panel data from Korean Employment Information Service. With the special attention to the effects of Non-cognitive abilities, the research model was set up with other explanatory variables such as socioeconomic status, friend relationships, the extent of employment-oriented private tutoring, SAT score and so on. The results show that Non-cognitive abilities have a positive influence on labor market outcome, together with variables like SAT score and overseas language course experience. On the other hand, family background has indirect effect on the labor market outcome through the mediation effects from other variables, although it does not have direct effect. These findings highlight the importance of non-cognitive abilities in the successful working life. They also imply that higher education institutions need to offer various employment supporting programs enhancing non-cognitive abilities.
