한국 청소년들의 중비행에 관한 범죄이론적 비교연구 = A Comparative Study of Theories of Delinquency on Adolescents` Serious Juvenile Delinquency in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explains the causes of juvenile delinquency using Hirschi`s social bonding theory, Akers` social learning theory, and Agnew`s general strain theory. The main purpose of this study is to determine how well each of the theories do and how well they do compared to each other in explaining juvenile delinquency. Also, whether or not social bonding theory explains adolescents` serious juvenile delinquency in South Korea. The data are from a sample of 2,280 middle school students taken from National Youth Policy Institute in 2010. Multiple OLS regression analysis indicated that general strain theory was strongly supported as an explanation for juvenile delinquency, while social learning theory was supported to some extent and social bonding theory were not supported. When general strain variables are excluded from the full equation, the change in R2 is great, indicating that it is the general strain factors that have the best impact on dependent variables than other theories. The most important implication of this study is that it makes important contributions toward the further utilization of general strain and social learning in investigating juvenile delinquency by Korean middle school students.
