서구 페미니즘 이론의 동향과 쟁점, 글로벌 맥락에서의 한국 페미니즘에 미치는 의미

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to give a positive direction to the development of Korean feminist theory by (1)reviewing academic trends in Western feminist theory during last twenty to thirty years and (2)critically examining their implications to Korean feminist scholarship. First, it identifies academic trends in Western feminist theory in three aspects: the aspects of method, content, and subject. The methodological trend of theory has moved from feminist 'critique' to feminist 'construction'; the content of theory has shifted from issues of 'equality' to those of 'liberty'; 'gender' has been replaced by 'social justice' in the aspect of subject analysis. Then, the paper critically examines the implications of those trends to Korean feminist scholarship. Given this critical examination, the ultimate purpose of this paper is not to accommodate simply Western feminist theory to Korean cases but to make a positive contribution to the development of Korean feminist theory that is specific to Korean particular contexts. Such a development of Korean feminist theory is only possible when unique Korean feminism is able to be placed in the universal context of transnational feminism.
