사회과학분야 : 대학 무용 전공 교과과정 구성 경향 탐색 = A Trend in Curriculum Design of Korean Collegiate Dance Major

A scarcity of theory-based courses for dance major have been reported compared to a colossal number of practice-based or technique-based courses. However, as a university major, dance is presently required to pursue both the areas including theory and practice in equilibrium for education. Having said that, the present study purported to investigate a general tendency of the curricula in Korean collegiate dance majors. More specifically, the proportions between theory-based courses and activity-based courses were explored, and also specific curriculum segmentation was employed. In conclusion, this study confirms the fact that the collegiate dance majors in Korea do not currently provide well balanced curricula for their students. Thus, the dance curriculum is required to alter to contain diverse theories and techniques to meet the up-to-date social and academic demand.
