제2차 북미 핵갈등의 담론적 기원: 2002년 10월 3일~11월 26일, 말의 공방과 담론의 생태계 = A Discursive Origin of the Second U.S.-North Korea Nuclear Conflicts

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article explores a discursive origin of the second U.S.-North Korea nuclear conflicts. The nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula was propelled by the struggle of discourses between the U.S. and North Korea, the relations of which had periodically displayed at the international level properties such as crisis, conflict, rupture, impasse, negotiation, cooperation and so on since the end of the Cold War. This article attempts a thick description of the battle of words, which took place from 3 October to 26 November 2002, over whether North Korea had a highly enriched uranium program.
The battle between U.S. and North Korea ignited a nuclear conflict and crisis in the process of which their discourses constructed a new reality in the bilateral relations. During and after the battle of words, circulation and consumption of the discourses are analysed in the ecosystem of discourses in which various actors including international organizations and other countries interacted. Finally, this article carries some implications for international relations theories relevant to studies on the U.S.-North Korea nuclear conflicts.
