노동운동의 담론적 위기 = 신자유주의담론과 미디어 노동담론의 역사적 접합을 중심으로

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Ever deteriorating public opinion toward labor movement points the likely impact of neoliberal discourse which has been prevailing particularly since the Korean crisis in 1997. This paper thus attempts to assess whether the so-called neoliberal discourse is indeed reflected on media coverage interwoven with public opinion. For this, while dividing time periods from 1993 to September 1997, from November 1997 to August, 2001, and from IMP graduation to 2006, this paper traced down the shift of media frame, attitude and privileged values. Discourse analysis revealed that not only were media coverages affected by political peculiarity but they have also changed in accordance with environmental changes such as financial crisis and government policy. More to the point, much of the difference of media coverage has been narrowed with the evolution of neoliberalism which had its own life cycle from invention to competition to prevailance and to common sense. Putting such findings into account, the authors claim that public's antipathy against labor movement may not be fully understandable without relating it to media discourse and that it is high time for the labor unions to sincerely engage in discourse competition particularly on the field of the mainstream media.
