한국 언론인의 사회적 자본으로 외부 연결망의 형성에 관한 연구 = 영향요인과 구조적 등위성을 중심으로

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study approaches the Korean journalist's social capital with the external network ties that they possess during the career path. The data used in this study are newspaper journalist's self-reporting network ties with various organizations and government committees.
The results reveal that the size and structure of network ties are influenced by the organizational positions, college graduated, and newspaper organization itself. The people in the Chosunilbo and Dongailbo, so called major newspapers are more connected with external organizations than those of the other newspapers. The more active network ties are also found in the people who are board members and major university graduates respectively.
However the Korean journalists' social capital based on the external network ties are rated very narrow since their ties are confined to a few groups such as government committees and journalist organizations. The structure of external network ties were divided into core and periphery according to the classification of major/non-major newspaper companies, which may result in the difference of news production competitiveness among newspaper companies. The limitations of this study are presented along with the directions for the future research.
