춤의 언어적 의미기능에 관한 해석 연구 = Interpretative Study on Linguistic & Semantic Functions of Dance

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study tries to read the dance in view of a sign/symbol centered on its linguistic functions and semantics. While dance is the representative form of a nonverbal-nonvocal body language, it has its distinctiveness from other languages as an artistic phenomenon. It thus exists as an abbreviation or a symbolic language as if it is an old practice lasted for a long time. For the perspective that regards the artistic phenomenon of the dance as the linguistic function, it makes a fairly linguistic interpretation on the factors that make the dance be expressed in an oral language. In this case, the cultural common notion that reads the dance through its symbolic signs and meanings as the body language as well as the abbreviation shared in the form of dance texts. Furthermore, the concept of ‘symbolic signs,’ where the language organizes an artistic phenomenon, is described as the and symbolic activity by regarding the art as a compound unit that helps to head for the symbolic world. In order to analyze the world of art, intertwined with such concepts and elements, in light of linguistic interpretation, it applies the methodology called semiotic customization. While the study narrows the perspectives on the general art, it discloses the problems the dance language has; and it makes an inference grounded on the interpretative study associated to the artistic phenomenon. Therefore, the application of the dance text should be treated as the methodology of the linguistic-scientific interpretation, along with the aesthetic/artistic & technological analysis. Likewise, the truths in life and artistic message the dance art has traditionally depicted as well as its concept that becomes a social myth are needed to be inferred as well.
