This study is intended to identify the influence of physical activities of traditional plays on happiness and cultivation of characters of children. Research problems established for achieving such an objective are as follows. Research problem 1. Is there an effect of physical activities of traditional plays on improvement of happiness of children? Research problem 2. Is there an effect of physical activities of traditional plays on improvement of cultivation of characters of children? The subjects for this research comprised 72 four and five-year-old children, including 36 boys and 36 girls in two education institutions, exclusively for children, located in Gwangju. The experiment group has participated in physical activities of traditional plays twice a week for eight weeks. Experiment procedures were implemented in an order of preliminary examination, preparatory investigation, treatment in experiment for eight weeks, and follow-up investigation. Independent variable t-test was performed for the data analysis.
Results derived in this study are as follows.
First of all, children in the experiment group applied with physical activities of traditional plays were turned out to represent a statistically significant difference compared to the ones in control group in terms of improvement of happiness.
Secondly, children in the experiment group applied with physical activities of traditional plays were turned out to represent a statistically significant difference compared to the ones in control group in terms of cultivation of characters.
