우리나라 4년제 대학 교양교육 현황 분석 연구 = Research and Analysis of Present Status of University General Education in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 우리나라 4년제 대학의 교양교육과정의 교육목표, 교육과정 편성, 교육내용, 교원, 교수ㆍ학습방법, 행ㆍ재정 운영 등, 교양교육의 현황 실태를 분석하고 이를 토대로 교양교육 질 개선을 위한 방향 설정을 위한 근거 및 개선방안을 마련하는데 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 전국 67개 4년제 대학에 대한 분석결과 첫째, 교양교육의 목표는 주로 인격형성, 인성함양, 국제적 역량강화,기초소양 획득, 창의성 제고, 지성 및 교양 형성, 문화시민육성, 봉사정신함양 및 봉사활동 등을 강조하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 전임교원이 교양교육과정의 80%이상을 담당하고 있는 것으로 응답한대학은 10.8%, 전임교원이 교양강좌를 담당하는 비율이 20%가 되지 않는다고 응답한 대학은 7.7%로 조사되었다. 셋째, 교양교육과정의 운영에 도움이 될 수 있는 교원 전문성 강화 프로그램의 시행회수가 연 5회 미만이라고 응답한 대학이 약 60%를 차지하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 관련 정보를 제공 한 대학을 분석한 결과 전공영역 대 교양영역의 운영예산 비율이 81%대 19%정도로 나타났다. 다섯째,교양교육과정위원회 및 상응하는 위원회가 설립된 대학(80.6%)에서는 교양교육과정의 운영에 필요한교과목의 신규개설, 폐지, 관련 규정에 대한 심의, 비교과 영역의 교양교육과정 기획, 조정, 교양교과목관련 교재에 대한 사항, 교양교육과정의 강사 선임, 교체 등을 주요 안건으로 다루고 있는 것으로 나타 났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the existing implementation and current status of general education of Korean universities. Specifically, the study was to investigate the goals and objectives of general education, the course structure and content of general education, the instructional portion of general education, and the administrative aspects of general education. Results from a sample of 67 four-year universities are indicated as follows: a) the goals and objectives of general education focus mainly on the cultivation of one’s own personality and the development of creative thinking and intellectual capacity; b) the universities that over 80 percent of courses that are taught by full-time faculty were 10.8 percent; c) the ratio of the implementation of the faculty development programs for improving teaching was considered rather low; d) the budget for the general education was lower than the budget for major education; and e) the major roles of advisory committees on general education are to make decisions regarding their curriculum, to review any regulations or guidelines dealing with general education, and to appoint qualified faculty.
