한국 설화에 나타난폭력의 형상화와 의미화에 관한 연구 = A Study on Configuration and Signification of Violence in Korean Folktales

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to research the violence mythos in Korean folktales which is condensed thinking method and cultural memory of transmission groups. Violence in Korean Folktales can be typified in the following two. One is exposed violence which is the core action of the beginning the narrative and determine the future course of the entire narrative and the other is hidden violence which is the act of as a reaction or counteraction to a force that changes the first state in the narrative. The exposed violence in tales is undisputed evil act therefore the perpetrators try to conceal their own violence and the victims or persons who are related the victims try to reveal the evil act and punish the perpetrators. These tales reveal the ethical system of good and evil and lay great emphasis on the significance of punishing evil.The hidden violence in tales is considered as counteraction to first act of violence and that is easily justified. These tales are building a inevitable logic of the counteraction. They strengthen the ideology to support the existing system dealing with political issues and make people to internalize the main value of the group encouraging good through the victims` sacrifice. In this process, the victims of violence are depersonalized and perpetrators` acts of violence are justified.
