승전무 북춤에 나타나는 전통적 미 연구 = Study of the Traditional Beauty in the Seungjeon-Mu Drum Dance

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리 전통문화에 대한 중요성이 부각되면서 그에 따른 활발한 담론들이 대두되고 있다. 우리 고유의 무용을 통한 전통적인 미란 무엇인가 하는 문제가 애매모호한 가운데 그 실체를 이해하는 데까지 미치지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 기존의 연구에서 우리의 전통성, 한국성을 좁은 시각으로 해석했기 때문에 발생되는 표현의 한계성을 극복하는 것이며, 보다 깊이 있는 전통성에 접근하고자 하는 하나의 방법으로써 통영 승전무를 통해 전통적 미의 특징을 찾고자 하는 것이다. 그것은 승전무에 있어서 전통이라는 것을 외형적 형식에서 읽어내려는 자세에서 벗어나 인간의 삶과 생활이라는 문제가 동시에 설명되어져야 한다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 전통성이라는 포괄적인 개념 안에서, 우리의 정서와 생활모습이 내재되어 온 보편적인 미라는 접근을 통해, 현대 한국무용의 나아갈 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 또한 이러한 방법을 통해 전통예술 전반에 숨겨져 있는 우리민족의 미적 감각과 그것을 지배해온 근원적 미의식에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 승전무에서 표현되어질 수 있는 우리 고유의 전통적 미를 찾고자 하는 것이다. 따라서 승전무에 나타나는 전통적 미는 크게 한국적 정서의 미, 형식적 미, 표현적 미로 파악할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As the importance of our traditional culture has been making a prominent stand, active discussions on the subject has been manifesting. The question of what the traditional beauty based on our inherent dance is, has not yet been affecting our understanding of it with its vague nature. Accordingly, the objective of this study is to overcome the limit of expression occurring due to the narrow perceptive annotations of existing studies of our tradition and Korean-ness, as well as to approach our tradition with a deeper process to discover the characteristics of the traditional beauty through the Tong-Yeong Seungjeon-Mu. This means that the issues of life and lifestyles must each be simultaneously examined, breaking free from the attitude of reading the external formalities of tradition regarding the Seungjeon-Mu. Consequently, within the inclusive concept of tradition, the approach of a generalized beauty inherent in our sentiments and lifestyle is analyzed, to find the direction that contemporary Korean dance is headed towards. Furthermore, through these processes, the discovery of our distinct traditional beauty that may be expressed by the Seungjeon-Mu based on the understanding of the sense of beauty of our race hidden in our traditional culture as a whole, and the consciousness of beauty it dominates, is the ultimate objective of this study. Accordingly, the traditional beauty portrayed in the Seungjeon-Mu can be broadly grasped as the beauty of Korean emotions, beauty of external formalities, and expressive beauty.
