The purpose of this research is to find the effects of the happiness enhancement program based on character strengths on children``s subjective well-being. To achieve this purpose, four 5th grade classes in W elementary school in Seoul were tested based on the subjective well-being scale. Then, one class which had the most similar quality with the researcher`s class was chosen. The researcher`s class was placed in the experimental group while the other class was placed in the control group. The experimental group participated in 10 terms of the happiness enhancement program based on character strengths during six weeks while the control group didn`t. The results of the quantitative analysis to verify the effectiveness of the research were as follows. First, compared to the control group, the experimental group treated by the happiness enhancement program based on character strengths showed significant increase in positive well-being, and its sub-factors(positive efficacy, positive affect, positive relatedness) compared to the control group. Second, the experimental group treated by the happiness enhancement program based on character strengths showed significant reduction in negative well-being and its sub-factors(negative affect) except for negative efficacy and negative relatedness compared to the control group. Pre and post test in the experimental group showed the potential for change by significant decrease in the negative well-being and related its sub-factors. The test results were supported and established better by the observation reports and analysis of the program questionnaire.
