베르그송의 창조성 이론에서 본 예술적 창조의 의미

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 앙리 베르그송의 ‘창조성’ 개념이 창작자의 심리에 바탕을 두며 개성을 중시하는 현대의 예술교육 이념에 미친 이론적 영향을 탐구함으로써, 베르그송 철학의 독자성을 다시금 이해하고 그 선구적인 미학사적 의미를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 그러기 위해 우선 그의 창조 개념이 갖는 ‘불가역성’과 ‘예견불 가능성’이라는 성격을 살펴볼 것이다. 이어 심리주의적인 철학에 바탕을 둔 창조적 행위의 의미를 고찰하는 가운데, 과학과 예술, 제작과 창조라고 하는 인간 활동이 갖는 각각의 특성을 비교 검토할 것이다. 나아가 그의 창조 이론이 예술교육의 장으로 연결되는 지점을 찾아봄으로써 자발적인 창작활동의 고유한 가치를 파악하게 될 것이다.
베르그송은 예견불가능하며 새로운 것의 부단한 창조를 화가나 조각가 같은 사람들의 솜씨가 발휘되는 예술 활동에서 찾는다. 나아가서는 인간 스스로가 삶을 만드는 직인 또는 예술가로서, ‘독창적인’(originale)형상을 창출하기 위해 계속해서 작용하는 존재라고 한다. 베르그송주의에서도 미적 직관과 예술적 창조는 불가분의 관계에 있다. 자발적 능동적 활동이 있음으로 인해 비로소 창조성이 발휘된다. 여기에서도 창조적 행위는 신적활동으로 이해되며, 그래서 창조에는 환희가 수반된다고 말하게 된다.
베르그송주의에서의 창조란 선재하지 않았던 무엇인가를 생겨나게 하는, 예견불가능하며 의외성으로 가득찬 행위이다. 베르그송은 제도적 수법을 극복한 라베송의 심리적이며 자유회화적인 데생교육사상을 높이 평가하였다. 그것은 기계적인 제작방법에 의존하지 않는 자유로운 정신활동이야말로 창조성을 계발할 수 있음을 인식시켜주었다. 우리는 이러한 창조적 예술교육 사상의 맹아가 이미 19세기 후반 데생교육론에서 싹트고 있음을 확인하였고, 그 이념이 베르그송의 사상으로서 이어지고 있음을 살펴보았다. 베르그송의 창조성 이론은, 창작자의 심리를 중심에 두고 개성의 발로를 존중하는 예술교육 이념의 토대를 마련하는데 커다란 역할을 수행하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to understand Bergson"s philosophy of creation and its significance in the history of modern aesthetics, through examining his concept of creativity which has influenced on the idea of contemporary art education. Therefore, I will inspect the traits of the concept of creation, namely the irreversible and the unpredictable, and to make a comparison between science and art and between fabrication and creation from the viewpoint of psychological philosophy on the meaning of human creative activity. Further, I will grasp the valuable meaning peculiar to spontaneous creative activity which is connected with the realm of art education.
According to Bergson, creation is an activity in the process of becoming, and both of becoming and evolving are the continuity of creation. The phenomena of becoming is unreversible and the same kind of creation cannot be repeatable. He seeks for the incessant creative power in the artistic activity of painter and sculptor. Further, he mention that human being should be an artist or artisan who makes one"s own life, and be an existence continuously operating in order to produce original figure.
Aesthetic intuition and artistic creation are inseparably related to each other. Spontaneous active behaviour facilitates the manifestation of creativity. Creative activity accompanies the divine great joy. Therefore, the practical dessin education aiming at drawing a draft or map has not concerned with originality or creativity. Bergson highly appreciated Ravaisson"s idea of dessin education which advocate the unrestricted expression in free painting instead of mechanical technique useful for practise. We could confirm that this idea of free painting put forth buds of creative art education, and is linked together with Bergson"s thoughts. Bergson"s theory of creativity has played an important role to lay the foundation of art education that respects the expression of individuality and personal psychology.
