미래의 대학교육과 인재상: 인재교육 레짐을 위한 담론 = Higher Education and the Type of Talented People in the Future: A Discourse on the Shift Towards the Education-for-All-the-Talented Regime

This study attempts at conceptualizing the idealistic types of talented people so as to facilitate a discourse on the regime shift towards all-the-talented youth, for establishing a new type of talented people seems to be regarded as the key to determine the future of higher education.
As times pass on, the desirable type of talented people has been changing. It is expected that the type of the talented youth would be turned out as a real, depending upon the will and the efforts of the constituents of the university because the regime of higher education is also closely connected with th type of the talented educated by the university in concern.
Today the dominant paradigm for higher education is influenced by the neoclassical economic view of human being, which is based on a biased and narrow one originated from the philosophy of utilitarianism. As a matter of fact, we need to compromise the conflicts between the rational pursuit of private interests and the social well-being of public goods.
While focusing on the possibility of the fulfillment of social functions rather than on the individual characteristics or capabilities, this paper tries to find out four different types of talented people, combining two factors of social functions and educational goals.
It is the happiness/flourishing, be it out-of-dated but still new criteria, that defines about which type of talented people is desirable. Accordingly, the emphasis of normative public benefits accomplished by trustful relationships would be much more effective in nurturing talented people than the one of functional efficiency based on competition, with focusing on the processes of pedagogy more than on its outcomes. It is hopeful that in a near future this emphasis will lead us to the education-for-all-the-talented regime.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 새로운 인재상 정립이 대학교육의 미래를 결정하는 열쇠라고 보고, 인재교육 레짐의 전환을 위한 담론 형성을 위해 인재상의 이념형적 유형화를 시도하고자 하였다.
사회적으로 요청되는 인재상이 시기별로 다를 수 있다. 그런 만큼, 어떤 인재를 양성할 것인가는 해당 대학 구성원들의 의지와 노력에 달린 문제라는 접근이 필요하다. 앞으로 어떠한 대학교육 레짐으로 전환해갈 것인가 하는 일은 결국 어떤 인재상에 근거한 대학교육인가의 문제인 것이다.
오늘날 대학교육의 인재상을 지배하는 패러다임은 신자유주의적 경제적 인간관이다. 문제는 그 인재상이 편향되고 편협한 인간관에 기초로 하고 있다는 점이다. 따라서 합리적 사익 추구와 사회적 공공성/공익의 추구 사이에 조화를 이룰 수 있는 인간관에 대한 고민이 필연적으로 생겨나는 것이다.
본고는 개인의 고유한 특성이나 자질을 중심으로 접근하기보다는 사회적 기능의 충족 가능성을 기준으로 인재를 규정하는 것이 더 현실적이라고 본다. 인재의 사회적 기능과 인재양성 교육의 주안점을 결부시켜, 인재상을 4 가지로 유형화하여 제시하고 있다.
바람직한 인재상을 판가름하는 기준은, 비록 오래되었지만 여전히 새로운 기준은, ‘행복/활약(活躍)’이어야 한다고 본다. 활약하는 행복한 인간을 지향하는 인재상은, 누구나 다 각자의 처지에서 자신의 역량을 마음껏 펼치면서 소임의 역할을 당당히 수행하는 것이다. 경쟁에 기초한 ‘기능적 효용성’보다는 신뢰에 기초한 ‘규범적 공공성’을 강조하고, 성과보다는 과정을 더 중시하는 인재교육 레짐이 바람직하다고 본다.
