환경 태도와 행동의 불일치로 인한 내적 갈등 분석 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 환경 행동과 관련한 비합리적 심리 요인을 밝히기 위해 환경 태도와 행동의 불일치 상황에서 발생하는 내적 갈등 양상을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 먼저 개인내부에서 발생하는 심리적 갈등 양상을 파악하기 위한 심층면담 질문지를 개발하였고, 환경에 긍정적 태도를 가진 11명의 연구 참여자를 선정하여 개별 심층면담을 실시하였다.
이를 통해 얻은 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 환경태도와 행동이 일치하지 않는 것은 크게 내부적 조절점과 외부적 조절점으로 구분하여 설명할 수 있으며, 총 17가지의 불일치 이유를 확인하였다.
둘째, 환경태도와 행동 간의 불일치로 인한 내적 갈등 양상을 분석한 결과, 환경에 대해 긍정적 태도가 형성되어 있는 사람은 자신이 가진 환경 태도와 일치하지 않는 행동을 했을 때 내적 갈등을 경험하였다. 이러한 내적 갈등은 자신의 내 · 외부로부터의 부정적 자아 인식에 대한 방어와 행동의 부정적 결과에 대한 인식 등으로 인해 발생하였으며, 행동 전, 행동 중, 행동후, 행동하지 않는 상황에서 다양한 강도로 나타났다. 이 연구를 통해 분석된 환경 행동에 영향을 미치는 비합리적 심리기제에 대한 이해를 바탕으로, 앞으로 친환경행동을 증진시킬 수 있는 환경교육 방안을 강구하는 연구가 필요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to discern internal conflict from dissonance between environmental attitude and behavior along with its self-justification to examine the irrational psychological factors in environmental behavior. In order to identify internal conflict and self-justification, a questionnaire was developed for in-depth interviews. In-depth interviews were conducted with 11 participants who were selected for their positive attitude towards the environment. The results of the interviews were analyzed using qualitative analysis to identify the types of conflict and justification. The results can be summarized as follows. Seventeen reasons for the dissonance were discerned and analyzed. Then, the internal conflicts caused by the dissonance were also analyzed. The participants did experience internal conflicts when their behaviors did not match their attitudes towards the environment. The internal conflicts were caused by internal and external negative self-awareness as well as recognition of the negative consequences of the behavior. The conflict appeared at different times (before, during, after and apart from the situations) with varying intensity. In conclusion, this study provides information regarding the impact on environmental behavior through the exploration of internal conflict caused by the mismatch of environmental attitude and behavior. Based on this understanding of the irrational psychological mechanisms, this study has significance in that it suggests ways to improve environmental behavior in environmental education.
