여성독거노인과 남성독거노인의 관계자원이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Social Relationship Resource by Gender on the Life Satisfaction of Elderly Living Alone

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study focuses on the influence of social relationship resource by gender on life satisfaction of elderly living alone. For the analysis, the data were obtained from "2014 National Data on the Elderly" published by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. The major findings of hierarchical multiple regression analysis were as follows：First, Controlling for related factors(age, income, subjective health status, limitations in daily activities), relationship of resources of all types(children, relatives, friends, all others) would have a significant and positive impact on the life satisfaction of elderly living alone. Second, even though elderly women are worse than elderly men with regard of socio-economic and physical & mental health conditions which would have significant and negative impacts on life satisfaction, the result show that the life satisfaction of elderly women are significantly higher than men’s. It would be due to contribution of women’s superior relationship resources. Finally, when the interaction term between gender and social relationship resource was included additionally, the interaction term has a significant impact on life satisfaction in regard to only children resource, while gender and social relationship still have a significant impact on it respectively. These results suggest that perceived gender differences of relationship resource should be considered for enhancing the quality of life of older peoples living alone. Especially this study highlights that we have to focus to develop and manage the relationship resources of elderly men through work and family life reconciliation from working age.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 성별 간 관계자원의 차이에 주목하여 독거노인의 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향 요인을 확인하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 따라서 독거노인의 삶의 만족도에 대한 관계자원의 영향및 성별 차이를 확인하기 위해 보건복지부와 한국보건사회연구원에서 조사된 「2014년 노인실태조사」 원자료를 활용하여 위계적 다중회귀분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 연령, 소득수준, 주관적 건강상태, 신체 기능제한 여부 등을 통제한 상태에서 자녀, 친인척, 친구․이웃․지인, 모든 타인 등의 관계자원이 독거노인 삶의 만족도 증가에 유의미한 영향을 미치고 있음을확인하였다. 둘째, 여성노인은 남성노인에 비해 삶의 만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 사회경제적 수준 및 신체․정신건강 수준이 열악함에도 불구하고, 사회․경제 요인 및 건강 요인들을 통제한 상황에서는 여성노인의 삶의 만족도가 남성노인에 비해 유의미하게 높은 것으로나타났다. 이는 여성노인이 남성노인에 비해 관계자원이 우수하기 때문인 것으로 해석된다. 셋째, 성별과 관계자원의 상호작용항을 포함하여 분석한 결과에서, 성별과 관계자원은 여전히 각각 삶의 만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 성별과 관계자원의 상호작용 효과는 모든 자녀, 가장 많이 접촉한 자녀 관계자원에서 유의미한 영향이 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해, 독거노인의 삶의 만족도 향상을 위해서는 다양한 관계자원의 개발과 유지를 위한 전략적 접근이 필요하다는 점을 제안하였다. 특히 성별 관계자원의 차이를 고려하여, 남성노인의 경우 근로연령기부터 일․가정의 균형을 강조하여 노년기에 가족 및 비공식 관계자원을 유지, 강화할수 있도록 하는 접근이 필요하다는 점을 강조하였다.
