소설, 아이러니, 리얼리즘 = Fiction, Irony, Realism - In the context of M. Bakhtin"s dialogism -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

90년대 이후 우리 소설비평의 영역에서 바흐친의 이론적 패러다임은 다양한 방식으로 원용되어 왔다. 본 논문은 특히 바흐친적 대화주의와 아이러니의 관련성에 주목하여 바흐친의 이론적 패러다임을 언어의 물질성 차원에서 조명하고, 이를 통해 소설 텍스트의 정치성을 파악하는 유효한 방법론으로 승화시키고자 하는 작업의 일환이다. 특히 바흐친의 대화주의를 상호텍스트성으로 축소 이해하는 서구 논자들의 입장에 거리를 두고, 모더니티의 문제, 구어성과 작가의 문제, 카니발 개념과 리얼리즘의 관계 등 다양한 맥락을 소환하여 모더니티와 아이러니, 대화주의와 모더니티의 역동적 관계를 해명하고자 한다. 이를 통해 아이러니 개념의 대화적 측면을 활성화시키고 궁극적으로 리얼리즘과 대화주의의 밀접한 관련성을 확보한다면, 이는 소설과 정치성이라는 주제를 미시적으로 탐구하는 데 유효한 패러다임이 될 수 있다. 바흐친적 패러다임은 초월적 인식주체의 부재를 곧바로 진리성의 무화로 연결하는 포스트모던적 사유와 변별되면서, 동시에 역동적 아이러니를 통해 단성적 진리의 미학적 지배를 넘어서고자 하는 이론적 고투이기도 하기 때문이다. 아이러니의 의미론적 유동성이 서구의 모호성(ambiguity) 이론과 동일시되지 않는 지점에서, 바흐친의 대화주의는 소설 장르의 미시적, 물질적 탐색에 유효한 이론으로서의 지위를 확보한다. 대화적 역동성에 대한 바흐친적 사유는 나아가 ‘커다란 시간’을 사유하는 보다 거시적인 미학적, 철학적 관점과 맞닿아 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Bakhtin"s literary theory since the "90s in Korean criticism has been utilized in various ways. The purpose of this paper is to examine relevance of irony and dialogism as a Bakhtinian literary concept. This is to investigate Bakhtin"s dialogism theory in the context of linguistic-material level and to sublime Bakhtinian concept to a methodology for understanding of political nature of fiction.
Apart from postmodern point of view to explain dialogism as “intertextuality” of J. Kristeva, this paper focuses on dynamic relevance of dialogism and “slovo”(utterance). Especially, this relevance is closely connected with historical modernity, colloquiality, modern authority, “carnival” and finally realism.
This paper suggests also a concept “realistic irony” or “irony as a realistic methodology”. This idea could be a useful approach to think Bakhtinian dialogism in area of “aesthetical truth” and “the political”. Bakhtinian paradigm would be different from postmodern gesture about “impossibility of truth”, and it is also a bitter literary struggle to overcome monological domination of ONE voice. This kind of understanding about Bakhtin"s theory is involved with macroscopic point of view about history. It is connoted in Bakhtinian concept “Big Time”.
