학령인구감소, 대학재정지원사업과 지역간 대학격차 = The Decline of School Age Population, Government sponsored Work Expenditure for Universities, and the Regional Disparity of Higher Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to analyze the regional change trend of universities entrance quota and the regional change trend of financing universities from government sponsored works, to identify the relationship between conditions of higher education’s teaching and research and those of regional economy and demography, and finally to suggest the policy alternatives for co-development of regional university and economy. This findings in this study were as followings; First, the declining rate of universities entrance quota in the Metropolitan area has been an average 0.6%, compared with average 2% of it in the non-Metropolitan area during the period of 10 years. If the policy for university restructuring pursing to reduce universities entrance quota is continuing, it should deepen the concentration of higher education system in the Metropolitan area. Second, Government sponsored 6,500 billion(KRW) to universities for HRD, R&D, and both of it. Universities in the Metropolitan area has been much more supported by government rather than those in the non-Metropolitan area, based on an unit of institution. Third, there was a severe regional disparity in the conditions of a higher education system and an economic power in the perspective of input, process, output variables. Finally, this study suggested the new policies for co-development of regional university and economy and also discussed several implications for future research.
