예술, 행동주의 그리고 도시: 테이크아웃드로잉의 젠트리피케이션 저항을 중심으로 = Art, Activism and the City: Resisting Gentrification like Takeout Drawing

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There is a mounting evidence of growing mobilisation by artists and cultural producers in urban social movements, resisting particular urban development so called gentrification. This paper discusses the meaning of artists and cultural producers led mobilisation in oppositional movements. The paper describes one specific urban protest that has occurred in recent years: the anti-gentrification movement of Takeout Drawing in Seoul. The research analyses the composition, agenda and contributions of the art (cultural) activism. Artists (cultural producers), culture, and creative milieux have played a vital role in the protest`s success and have considerable potential for inspiring critical approaches to cities. Through addressing the case of Takeout Drawing in terms of cultural activism, the essay finally raises a future research agenda on the role of artistic practice and culture in urban social movements.
