국제사회의 대북 경제제재가 북한의 무역에 미친 영향 분석 = The Impacts of UN Sanctions on North Korea’s Trade - Intensive and Extensive Margin -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study empirically analyzes the effects of UN sanctions on North Korea’s trade. In the meantime, some researchers try to analyze the effectiveness of economic sanctions against North Korea under limited data. This paper contributes to the literature on investigating the effectiveness of UN sanctions on North Korea’s trade by decomposing its trade into intensive margin and extensive margin. This means that North Korea is likely to have replaced the reduction of existing import items to other substitutes.
The results indicate that UN sanctions on North Korea’s import have a negative impact on its intensive margin, but have no statistically significant impact on extensive margin. On the other hand, for exports, UN sanction against North Korea have a negative impact on intensive margin, but the effects on extensive margin is insignificant.
