부부싸움이 청소년 비행에 미치는 영향: 일반긴장이론을 중심으로 = The Effect of Marital Violence on Juvenile Delinquency: Application of General Strain Theory

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Many researchers and scholars recognized juvenile delinquency as a serious social problem and studied its causes and prevention. Family is the fundamental social group where children establish the social values and norms through family members, especially parents` role and attitudes. So marital conflict has direct and indirect impact on children`s emotion and behavior. Among various types of marital conflict, this study focused on marital violence and approached from the criminological point of view. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between marital violence and juvenile delinquency with Agnew`s General Strain Theory. To analyze the direct impact of marital violence and juvenile delinquency, juvenile delinquency was divided into two categories: status delinquency and violent delinquency. Also, low income family was used as a variable instead of socioeconomic status. Therefore, 2011 Crime Victim and Protection of Children in Low Income Family Survey conducted by Korean Institute of Criminology was used with logistic regression analysis. The result revealed statistically significant relationship with marital violence and juvenile delinquency, while low income family was only statistically related to status delinquency. Based on the findings, signification and limitation of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
