The present study was conducted to reveal that the effects of several mediators and moderators on rape myth when adolescents had got to contact to pornography. The 400 second grade male and female students of middle and high schools located at Jinhae Kyungnam took part in the present study. They asked to complete several questionnaires including the frequency of exposure to pornography, rape myth, knowledge of sex, and so on.
The major results are followed: First, male students have more contacted to pornography than have done female, and high school students have more contacted to pornography than have done middle school students. Also male students have more rape myth than female do, but male students have more knowledge of sex than female among high school students. Male students have more generous attitude to pornography and feel more positively after contacting them than female in high school. Second, it was found that student's feeling to pornography partly work as a mediator between the frequency of exposure to pornography and rape myth. That is, the more students have positive feeling after contact pornography, the more have rape myth feeling according to their frequency of contacting pornography. Third, gender of student plays role of a moderator between the frequency of exposure to pornography and the rape myth. The relationship between them was strong in male students, but it was very weak in female students.
The present study showed that the some of students's responses to the pornography takes a role of mediator between contacting pornography and their rape myth. Finally, several implications, suggestions, and limitations of the present study were discussed.
