소남 윤동규의 학술과 성호학파 = Scholarship and Seongho School of Sonam, Yun Dong-gyu - With Focus on Curriculum and Writing -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 성호학파 내에서 소남 윤동규의 역할과 그 저작의 성격을 규명하고자 한 것이다. 소남 윤동규는 성호가 관심을 가졌던 학문적 문제의식과 방향을 계승하여 학파 내의 좌장으로 적지 않은 역할을 했다.
『이자수어』와 『성호사설』 등 스승의 저작과 『동사강목』은 순암 안정복의 손에 의해 최종 정리되고 완성되지만 소남의 역할은 지대했고, 그의 견해는 성호학파의 퇴계관과 역사관을 형성하는데 적지 않은 비중을 차지했다. 역사유적인 철령위의 위치에 대한 고증에서 소남은 성호와 순암과는 다른 견해를 제시했지만 역사지리에 대한 소남의 조언은 순암에게 적지 않은 기여를 했다.
저술을 즐기지 않아 많이 남지 않은 경설은 경문의 대의를 정확하게 이해하되 구체적이 사실을 파악하는데 요긴한 방향으로 서술되었다. 고원하고 사변적인 논의를 일체 배제하고, 구체적 역사적 현실에서 진리를 찾고자 했다. 벽이단의 논리에서는 성호의 유연한 인식을 잘 계승했다.
결론적으로 성호학파 내에서 전개된 개방적이면서도 體會된 학문으로서의 실학, 곧 삶과 마주하며 성장하는 공부의 모범으로서 소남의 학술은 적지 않은 의미가 있다. 특히 성호 이익과 정산 이병휴, 순암 안정복과 주고받은 많은 서간에는 성호학파의 학문이 형성되어 가는 과정에서 제출된 진지한 논의들이 고스란히 담겨있다. 그 과정에서 비중있는 역할을 수행한 소남의 학문에 대한 성찰은 성호학파의 학문적 성격을 파악하는데 여전히 매우 긴요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to establish the role of Sonam Yun Dong-gyu in Seongho School and the characteristics of his writings. Sonam Yun Dong-gyu played a key role as the principal of the school upon inheriting the critical academic viewpoint and direction that Seongho took interest in.
The teacher’s writings, including Ijasueo (李子粹語) and Seonghosaseol (星湖僿說) and Dongsagangmok (東史綱目) were finalized and completed by Sunam Ahn Jeong-bok but Sonam also made a great contribution in the process with his opinions significantly influencing the establishment of Toegye’s view and historical view as well.
In a historical research into the location of Cheollyeongwi, a historical relic, Sonam presented different views from Seongho and Sunam but Sonam’s advices on historical geography made quite an impact on Sunam.
He didn’t leave a lot of doctrines of Confucianism because he didn’t enjoy writing but those remaining doctrines were written in a way to facilitate a clear understanding of the great causes of original texts and an identification of concrete facts. He excluded lofty and overly speculative discussions and sought to find truths within the context of concrete historical reality. He successfully inherited Seongho’s flexible mindset in the logic of anti-heresy discourses.
In conclusion, Sonam’s scholarship carries not a little significance as an example of practical academy characterized by openness and pragmatism in Seongho School, or studying that grows while being faced with life’s experience.
In particular, the letters exchanged with Seongho Yi-ik, Jeongsan Yi Byeonghyu and Sunam Ahn Jeong-bok unmistakably reveal serious discussions presented during the process of developing and establishing the Seongho School. Sonam’s reflection of scholarship, which played a pivotal role in the process, is still very useful and valuable in grasping the academic characteristics of Seongho School.
