본 연구에서는 타인의 자율성 지지와 학생들의 기본적 욕구 및 심리적 안녕감 간의 상호 관련성 그리고 타인의 자율성 지지와 학생들의 기본적 욕구가 이들의 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 직·간접 효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 최종분석 대상은 서울과 경기에 소재한 4개 중학교에 재학 중인 442명의 학생들이며, 타인(부모, 교사, 친구)의 자율성 지지, 기본적 욕구(자율성, 유능감, 관계성) 및 심리적 안녕감 척도를 사용하였다. 본 연구 결과, 부모, 교사 및 친구의 자율성 지지, 기본적 욕구 및 심리적 안녕감은 유의미한 상호 정적 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 부모와 친구의 자율성 지지는 기본적 욕구의 모든 하위요인들을 거쳐 심리적 안녕감에 정적으로 간접적인 영향을 주며, 교사의 자율성 지지는 기본적 욕구의 자율성 요인을 거쳐 심리적 안녕감에 정적으로 간접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 부모와 교사의 자율성 지지는 심리적 안녕감에 정적으로 직접적인 영향을 주기도 하는 것으로 나타났다.

This study was to analyze the casual relationships among autonomy support from others, junior-high school students' basic needs, and their psychological well-being. Subjects were 442 middle school students in a metropolitan school district, Korea. Their average age was 14.50 years. Measures of autonomy support from others(parents, teachers, and friends), basic needs(autonomy, competence, and relatedness), and psychological well-being were administered. Structural equation modeling techniques were used to test the relationships among the variables. It was found that autonomy supports from parents and friends affected students' psychological well-being via their basic needs(autonomy, competence, and relatedness). Autonomy support from teachers affected students' psychological well-being via autonomy, one of their basic needs. Autonomy supports from parents and teachers also directly affected students' psychological well-being.
