Baekbong, who had practiced asceticism in Mt. Baekdu in the end of the Daehan Empire was the master of Hong Am Racheol, who was the pioneer of modern Koreanology. It took three years for Hong Am to be taught from Baekbong in the indirect way that the master who had designated a disciple as his successor made the disciple reach his senses by delivering dozens of books about native Korean religion Shinyo through the third person. The books Baekbong had handed down included the sacred books such as『Samilshingo(三一神誥)』,『Shinsagi(神事記)』, and『Seonggyeongpalri(聖經八理)』as well as documents concerning religious rituals, the types of declarations and the portrait of Dangun. It is noticeable that all of these go through with Dangun oriented ideas which form the core of philosophy and historical views of the native Koreans. After getting handed down all the documentary stuff on Korean native religion Shingyo, Racheol made a significant contribution to the reconstruction of the ancient Shingyo by carrying out a drastic reform on it, establishing Shingyo doctrine of Trinity, holding the religious service for the Heavenly God, and practicing asceticism. In addition, the idea of Baebong had a great effect on Kimgyoheon's historical views and Seoil's religious standpoint.
