덕 개념의 존재론적 정초 = An Ontological Founding of the Concept ``Virtue

국문 초록 (Abstract)

근래에 도덕교육의 큰 흐름은 덕을 갖춘 사람을 형성하는 데 관심을 기울이고 있다. 그리스철학과 그리스도교사상을 거쳐 덕의 부활을 제창하는 최근의 덕 윤리학에 이르는바 존재론적 전통은 이 같은 흐름에 부합하는 덕 개념에 대해 요긴한 기초를 제공한다. 우리는 이 전통에서 정초되는 덕 개념을 몇 가지 측면의 것으로 추출할 수 있다. 덕은 우리 몸에 잘 배인 습성으로서 우리로 하여금 선한 행위를 지향하게 하는 기질 내지 성향이다. 덕에는 우리 스스로의 자연적인 힘을 통해 습득되는 지적인 것 및 도덕적인 것이 있으며, 때로는 초자연적인 것이 삶을 더 완전하게 한다. 현명과 사랑은 덕들의 연결 체계에서 결정적이며, 중용은 덕들의 주요한 평가 기준을 이룬다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A trend in moral education of late has taken note of shaping man endowed with virtues. The ontological tradition from Greek philosophy, through Christianity, to the recent restoration of virtue ethics offers a vital basis to the concept of virtue coinciding with that trend. We reflect that this tradition lays the foundation for the concept ``virtue`` in some ways. As a well-established habit virtue is a disposition directing us to some goodness of act. Intellectual virtues and moral virtues can be acquired by our natural powers, while supernatural virtues can be infused by a Divine dispensation which perfect our lives. Prudence and love are decisive in the connection of virtues, and the golden mean is the measure of morality.
