성장을 꺼리는 피터 팬 증후군 척도의 타당화 = Validation of The Peter Pan Profile to Measure Adolescents' Reluctance to Grow Up

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 청소년의 성장을 주저하는 경향을 측정하기 위하여R andolph와 Dye(1981)가 개발한 피터 팬 증후군 척도의 타당화를 시도하였다. 이를 위해 영동지역 초중등학생과 대학생7 27명에게 2가지 준거검사와 함께 이 척도를 실시하였다. 요인분석을 통해서 고유가 1이상인 6개 하위요인과 요인부하량. 40이상인 27개 문항이 선정되었으며, 확인적 요인분석에 의해 모형의 적합도가 검증되었고, α계수로 산출된 검사의 신뢰도 는 하위요인에 따라 .58-.82로 나타났다. 준거척도인 어머니의 양육태도와의 상관은 다소 약하게 나타났으나 자아정체감과는 높은 관련성을 보였다. 그리고 피터 팬 증후군 정도는 성별 차이는 없었으나 초등학생이 중 고생이나 대학생보다 낮고, 어머니의 학력과 가정의 경제적 수준 및 학교성적이 높을수록 낮게 나타났다. 그 러므로 피터 팬 증후군을 측정하기 위한 이 검사의 타당도는 양호한 것으로 입증되었다. 그러나 하위요인 중 3개 문항으로 구성된 한 영역에서 신뢰도가 다소 낮게 나타나 개선의 필요성과 그 밖의 보완책이 논의되 었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The desire to remain a child, at least at heart, afflicts us all. Each mature adult harbors an occasional wish to escape into childhood. A syndrome consisting symptoms of reflecting both conscious and unconscious forces deterring choice, decision, or resolution has been identified and resulted in The Peter Pan Profile, which has 6 sub-scales defined by developmental theory and the syndrome's characteristics. These 6 categories have been composed of attitudes toward mother and father, self-esteem, childhood, adulthood, and futurity. Each sub-scale contains four positively and four negatively weighted items responding five-point Likert-type response options. This study attempted to validate the Profile. The 48-item instrument and two other criterion measures, Ego-Identity Scale and Parental Authority Questionnire, were administered to 727 primary, secondary school, and university students. And principal components analysis was performed to identify 27 items which have factor loadings larger than .40. Reliability coefficients (Cronbach's α) of the scale were found to range from .58 to .82, lending credibility to the tool's capacity for accurate assessment of this phenomenon. For the criterion-referenced validity of the Profile, correlation between the Profile and mother's child-rearing behavior was appeared to be .204 and that between the Profile and ego-identity found to be .656. No significant differences was found between males and females on the total score. However, the Peter Pan Profile scores varied by school level, mother's educational level, economic status, and academic achievement for adolescents. Continued reliability and validity evaluation would be necessary to further improve the instrument's capacity to accurately assess reluctance to grow up. Some suggestions for making more valid scale and the implications of the study were discussed.
