암벽등반 산악회의 사회문화적 특성에 관한 연구 = A Study on Sociocultural Characteristics of Rock Climbing Club

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims at investigating the mechanism of the newly emerging social phenomenon of rock climbing and its sociocultural connotation through interaction between participants with insider's view. To carry out this research 7 members of rock climbing club in Busan were recruited to take part in ethnographic efforts. Findings are first, participants in rock climbing showed strong tendency to learn higher level of climbing techniques and to share their experiences with others by opening climbing schools. Second, whereas rock climbing requires higher level of unity and trust between participants, various types of conflicts were at work finally leading to break ups indicating there coexist higher level of communication, exchanges and conflicts. Third and interestingly, even climbers who started their own separate rock climbing club opposing to hierarchical operation of existing rock climbing club after all adjust themselves to existing order by participation in activities of existing rock climbing club showing double-folded attitudes.
