The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of the college classes in terms of the learning motivation based on the ARCS model and constructivism. For this purpose, in-depth interviews and images drawing were conducted with 31 undergraduates who attend educational technology class in 2016 1semester. For analyzing the characteristics of the college classes, the indicators are instruction contents, class operation skills, instruction evaluation, classroom environment and instruction methods. The results were as follows. First, from the result of in-depth interviews, the characteristics of the motivational classes in terms of instruction contents, class operation skills, instruction evaluation, classroom environment are closely related to the motivation strategies presented in the ARCS model. Second, from the analysis of the images, the results showed that the characteristics of the motivational
classes in terms of instruction methods are student-centered type of individual instruction method, discussion instruction method, practical instruction method based on the constructivism. Based on the above findings it suggested the implications for effective college classes that can promote learning motivation of undergraduates.
