정부에 대한 공정성 인식이 정부신뢰에 미치는 영향: 정부성과 만족도의 매개효과에 대한 다중집단 분석을 중심으로 = Influence of government justice perceptions on trust in government: With special reference to the mediating effects of satisfaction with government performance

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study determines that citizens’ perception that their government is “just” influences their trust in government, and citizens’ satisfaction with government performance mediates the relationship of these two variables. Perceptions of the justness of the government were measured through the three elements of procedural, distributional, and interactional justice. Two-group comparison was conducted between the high-trust group and the low-trust group to draw implications for ways to improve citizens’trust in government in Korea, where the level of social trust is weak. This study found that, among the three elements of government justice, interactional justice has the greatest influence on citizens’ trust in government, while distributional justice has a significant influence on citizen satisfaction with government performance. In a comparison of the two groups, only the perceptions of the government’s procedural justice showed a significant difference. On the basis of these findings, we can suggest the following. First, an “empathic government” that demonstrates fairness and humanism is important for citizens’ trust in government. Second, the following of procedural justice is a prerequisite for effective governance to compensate for the low level of social trust. Finally, distributional justice can enhance trust in government when citizens feel satisfied with government performance.
