사회적 체계이론의 관점으로 본 경쟁스포츠의 일곱 가지 특성 = Seven properties of competitive sports based on the perspective of system theory

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 루만의 사회적 체계이론을 이론적 자원으로 활용하여 현대사회의 경쟁스포츠가 기능체계로써 갖추어야 할 일곱 가지 특성을 밝히는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구는 기존 존재론적 사고에 기인한 경쟁스포츠는‘무엇인가?’에 대한 물음이 아니라 경쟁스포츠는‘어떻게 구성되어 지는가?’라는 물음으로 돌아 올 수 있으며, 존재론적 사고가 아닌 인식론적 구성주의의 사고를 통해 경쟁스포츠를 바라 볼 수 있도록 하는데 그 의의가 있다. 경쟁스포츠 역시 다른 기능체계들처럼 고유한 작동 방식에 따라 환경과 구별되며, 재-도입(re-entry)을 통해 폐쇄적으로 조직하고 선별하며 작동한다. 이렇듯 경쟁스포츠가 기능체계로서 갖추어야 할 일곱 가지 특성은 첫째, 환경과의 차이인 폐쇄성(환경 개방성)이 있어야 한다. 둘째, 다른 기능체계들처럼 자기생산(Autopoiesis)하여야 한다. 셋째, 의미를 가지고 소통하여야 한다. 넷째, 외부면/내부면을 관찰한다. 다섯째, 환경 개방적이고 구조적 연동을 하여야 한다. 여섯째, 주도적 이항코드(자기지시 프로그램, 주도적 기능, 매체 생산)를 가진다. 일곱째, 자기기술 한다. 이렇듯 기능체계가 갖추어야 할 일곱 가지 특성을 나타내고 있는 경쟁스포츠는 분절적 분화와 계층적 분화 과정을 거쳐 기능적으로 분화된 현대사회에서 정치, 종교, 예술, 학문, 경제 등의 기능체계들처럼 기능체계로써 확고한 지위를 부여 받았을 뿐만 아니라 앞서 서술한 일곱 가지 특성을 갖추고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to identify seven properties of competitive sports in modern society as a functional system to be qualified by making use of the theory of Niklas Luhmann’s social systematic theory. This kind of study is returning to the question like ‘How do competitive sports consist of?’not to the question like ‘What are competitive sports?’resulting from ontological thought and this study also has a meaning to see the competitive sports from the epistemic constructive thought not from the ontological one. Competitive sports operate with organizing and sorting closed though re-entry and are also distinguished from the environment in accordance with inherent operating ways like other functional systems. Like this, the seven properties to be qualified in competitive sports as a functional system should have firstly, closure(environmental openness) which means differentiation from the environment. Secondly, it should have autopoiesis like other functional systems. Thirdly, it should interact with a meaning. Fourthly, it should observe inside/outside. Fifthly, it should have environmental openness and structural interlocking. Sixthly, it has a dominant binomial code(self-directed program, dominant function, media production). Lastly, it should be self-descriptive. Like these, competitive sports have been assigned to a firm status just like functional systems in politics, religion, arts, study, and economy in modern society which has undergone segmental and hierarchical differentiation and also have the seven properties described above.
