Rasch 모형을 이용한 한국판 사회적 바람직성 척도 단축형(SDS-9)의 타당화 = Validation of the Korean Short-Version of Social Desirability Scale (SDS-9) Using the Rasch Model

The Social Desirability Scale-17 (SDS-17; unidimensional 16 items), developed by Stöber (2001), has distinct strengths including: (a) its convenience in survey administration thanks to its relatively small number of items, (b) appropriateness in its contents that presumably reflect the societal reality, and (c) its sound psychometric properties (i.e., reliability and validity estimates) with adult samples over the age of 18. This study aims to validate the SDS-17 with the sample of 302 Korean college students through systematic and robust processes to assess the appropriateness and difficulty level of each item using the Rasch model. As a result, nine final items with two factors were selected, and then convergent and discriminant validate estimates were calculated to assess the validity of the revised version (SDS-9). This study ends with discussion of the utility of the scale in Korean context as well as its limitations.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

Stöber(2001)의 사회적 바람직성 척도(Social Desirability Scale-17; SDS-17)는 단일요인의 총 16문항으로 구성되어 있는데 문항수가 상대적으로 적어 설문지 연구에 포함하기에 용이하며, 사회상을 잘 반영하여 문항의 내용과 표현이 적절하고, 18세 이상 성인 대상으로 신뢰도와 타당도가 높은 유용한 척도로 평가되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 SDS-17에 대한 체계적 문항분석 과정을 거쳐 한국판 사회적 바람직성 척도를 타당화 하고자 대학생 302명으로부터 수집된 자료에 대해 Rasch 평정모형을 적용하였다. 그 결과, 문항의 적합도와 곤란도 분석을 바탕으로 9개의 최종 문항을 선정한 후, 추가적으로 수렴 및 변별 타당도 검증을 실시하여 수정된 SDS-9 척도(2요인 9문항)의 타당도를 평가하였다. 끝으로 한국판 사회적 바람직성 척도의 활용방안과 본 연구의 제한점을 논의하였다.
