한국 공무원의 공직선택 동기 연구 : 직종별 하위직 공무원들의 인식 비교 = Motivational Factors Affecting Career Choice among Korea Civil Servants. : Perceptions of Low-Ranking Civil Servants in Different Types of Job

국문 초록 (Abstract)

공무원의 공직선택 동기는 계급이나 직종에 따라 상이 할 수 있지만, 기존 연구들은 이런 가능성을 점검하는 데 소홀하였다. 본 연구는 세 개 직종(일반직, 소방직, 경찰직) 391명의 하위직 공무원들을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 통해 이들 측면을 실증적으로 조사 분석하였다. 조사결과는 한국의 하위직 공무원들의 공직선택에 있어서는 직종의 차이에도 불구하고 PSM 관련 요인들의 영향력이 제한적일 수 있고, 외적 보상이 상대적으로 중요한 영향요인이 될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 하위직 공무원들에게 있어서는 외적 보상이 중요한 직무동기 요인이 될 수 있음을 암시한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The motivational factors affecting career choice of civil servants could vary depending on ranks and types of job. However, previous studies have payed little attention to this possibility. This study attempted to empirically test and validate such possibility with an empirical investigation conducted to the 391 low-ranking Korean civil servants in three different types of job. The results show that the importance of the factors related to PSM affect career choice of the civil servants less than extrinsic factors such as job security. This finding implies that low-ranking Korean civil servants could be motivated to work more by way of reinforcing extrinsic incentives.
