의사소통 장애아동을 둔 가족의 어려움과 지원요구에 관한 질적 연구 = Difficulties and Support Needs Perceived by the Families of Children with Communication Disorders: A Qualitative Inquiry

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 의사소통 장애아동을 둔 어머니가 인식하는 의사소통 장애아동이 가족에게 미치는 어려움과 그러한 어려움을 돕기 위해 가족에게 필요한 지원을 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 이를 위하여 의사소통 장애를 가진 아동의 어머니 16명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 질적 분석 결과 다음과 같은 3개의 주요 주제가 도출되었다: 1) 아동의 의사표현의 문제는 가족간의 상호작용을 어렵게 하고, 양육의 문제와 경제적인 어려움을 가져오며, 가족의 사회활동을 제한하는 등 가족생활 전반에 영향을 미친다. 2) 의사소통 장애아동의 가족은 이러한 어려움에 대하여 가족 내적으로는 가족 협력과 가족 내의 상호작용 전략을 사용하고, 가족 외적으로는 부모교육과 자조그룹 결성, 전문가의 도움을 통해 대처한다. 3) 의사소통 장애아동의 가족을 위해서는 가족간의 상호작용을 증진시키고 의사소통 능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 치료와 교육적 지원이 필요하며, 삶의 질을 높이기 위한 사회적 지원이 요구된다. 이러한 결과는 의사소통 장애아동을 위한 지원이 가족 중심의 통합적인 지원을 통해 이루어져야 함을 시사한다.

Interviews with 16 mothers of children with communication disorders were conducted in order to investigate the families’ experiences through their children with communication disorders. Three themes emerged from the qualitative analysis: (1) the impact of the child's communication difficulties on family life, (2) the coping strategies that the families use in order to overcome the difficulties, and (3) the support needed for raising children with communication disorders. Implications for policy and practices for children with communication disorders and their families are provided.
