진로탐색 집단상담이 중학생의 자아개념 및진로의식성숙에 미치는 효과 = The Effects of Middle School Students’ Career Exploration Group Counseling on Self-Concept and Career Maturity

The purpose of this study was to analyze how a career exploration group counseling had impact on self-concept and career maturity of middle school students. The research questions for the study were as follows. First, after participating in the career exploration group counseling, how would the self-concept of middle school students change to affirmative aspects between the experimental group and the control group? Second, how would the career maturity of middle school students show meaningfully between the experimental group and the control group after the treatment? All subjects in this study were the middle school students who volunteered to take part in the career exploration group counseling. They were assigned to 15 students each of the experimental group and the control group by random sampling. The students who were supposed to join the experimental group were asked to participate in the career exploration program which consisted of 10 sessions (60 minutes per session every week) and took pretest and posttest, while the control group was asked to participate in only pretest and posttest for a comparison with the experimental group. The data were analyzed mean, standard deviation, and t-test techniques. The results of this study were as follows. First, after participating in the career exploration group counseling, the self concept was improved to more affirmative aspects in the experimental group than the control group. Second, the career maturity was also increased meaningfully higher in the experimental group than the control group after the treatment. Therefore, concluding the results of this study, the career exploration group counseling was supposed to be efficient for improving the change of the self-concept affirmatively and making career maturity higher.
