Many researchers have been studied effective therapeutic factors in psychotherapy and many studies have been conducted to identify complex relationship between therapeutic factors. Therapeutic factors include client, therapist, cohesion between client and therapist, therapeutic alliance, and therapeutic approach. The importance of therapist’s factors has been emphasized in counseling theories as well as in practices. The present study reviewed a number of studies which have been conducted to find the effectiveness of therapist’s factors in psychotherapy. Characteristics of therapist’s factors were discussed in this study including personal characteristic, therapeutic relationship, awareness, wisdom, case conceptualization, and an ability to understand cultural context. Finally, the implication for the future research was addressed by reviewing major research findings in counseling area.
