부르디외의 예술사회학에 대한 비판적 검토 = ‘상징적 재화의 경제’에 함축된 ‘예술의 주술ㆍ종교적 본성’과 ‘경제적 환원론’을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 부르디외의 예술사회학의 핵심 주제를 ‘상징적 재화의 경제(The economy of symbolic goods)’라는 개념으로 제시하고, 이 개념 속에서 활성화되고 있는 종교적·경제적 용어들의 이론적 가치를 비판적으로 평가하는데 있다. 부르디외의 예술에 대한 종교적 관점이 예술의 성화(聖化)와 예술장의 위계 구조를 생산하고 유지시켜주는 메커니즘을 해명하고자 한다면, 그의 경제적 관점은 이러한 메커니즘의 이면에서 일어나는 행위자들 사이의 이해관심의 전략을 분석하는 데 집중하고 있다. 그런데 이러한 종교적·경제적 용어들의 사회학적 종합의 이면에는, 특수한 의미를 지닌 경제적 환원주의가 은밀히 작동하고 있다. 이 논문은 이러한 환원주의를 비판적으로 평가하기 위해 ‘상징적 재화’의 경제의 다른 이름인 ‘반경제적 경제’, ‘구원재의 경제’ 그리고 ‘뒤집어진 경제’라는 부르디외의 용어들을 차례로 검토한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article presents the central theme of Bourdieu’s sociology of art as concept of the economy of symbolic goods and critically examines the theoretical validities of the religious and economic terms in this concept. In one hand, Bourdieu uses the religious terms to explain the process of sacralization of art and the mechanism that sustains the hierarchical structure of the fields of art. On the other hand, his economic terms are centered on the analysis of the strategy of interest for the actors in the field of art. But, on the other side of the conceptual synthesis of religious and economic terms, we found a specific ‘economic reductionism’ activated clandestinely in his sociology of art. We will examine the imbedded significations of Bourdieu’s concepts such as anti-economical economy, economy of salvation goods, and economy turned upside down to evaluate critically his economic reductionism.
